Safety Tips
Last updated: May 2026
Nomadify helps you meet other travelers and plan real activities — but it can't make those people, those places, or those plans safe for you. That part is on you. Nomadify does not perform background checks or identity verification. Read this page before your first meetup, and come back to it any time something feels off.
Before an activity
- Meet in a public, well-lit place — a busy café, a popular viewpoint, a tour starting point, a hostel common room. Avoid private homes and isolated spots for first meetings.
- Tell someone you trust who you're meeting, where, and when. A quick message to a friend or family member goes a long way.
- Keep chat in the app until you've actually met and trust the person. Off-platform chats are harder for us to help with if something goes wrong.
- Control your own transport. Arrange your own way there and back. Don't get into a stranger's car for a first meetup.
- Double-check AI venue suggestions — opening hours, location, prices, and whether it's actually a place you want to be. AI gets things wrong.
- Learn local norms. Dress, gestures, drinking culture, photo etiquette, and laws vary widely. A few minutes of reading saves a lot of awkward (or unsafe) moments.
During an activity
- Stay aware of your belongings and your drink. Keep an eye on your bag, your phone, and your glass. Don't accept open drinks from someone you don't know.
- Moderate your alcohol. Being a little tipsy is fine; being unable to make decisions or get yourself home is not.
- Trust your instincts and leave if you feel uncomfortable. You don't owe anyone an explanation, a polite goodbye, or another round.
- Ask for help from venue staff, security, or local authorities if you need it. “Angel shot” / safe-word policies exist in many bars worldwide.
- Be respectful and inclusive. Different cultures, identities, and dietary needs are part of why this is fun. Treat people the way you'd want to be treated.
- Handle your share of the bill. Nomadify doesn't process payments — sort out food, tickets, taxis, and tabs directly with the people you meet.
- Follow local tipping customs (or the lack of them). A quick search beforehand avoids awkwardness.
After an activity
- Stay connected safely in-app. Keep messaging on Nomadify until you genuinely trust someone with off-platform contact.
- Report concerns confidentially. If something felt wrong, tell us. Reports are reviewed by our team and you don't have to confront the other person.
- Don't drive impaired. Walk, public transport, or a licensed taxi / rideshare. Always.
- Be cautious accepting rides from people you've just met — even kind ones. Use licensed transport instead.
Blocking & reporting
You can block any member from their profile or from inside a chat — that cuts off contact immediately. Blocking does not automatically notify our team, so if someone is breaking our Community Guidelines, also file a report in the app or email com3run@gmail.com. Don't misuse blocking or reporting to harass other members.
Tips for activities
- Be punctual. Other people are waiting on you — being late routinely is a fast way to lose invitations.
- Communicate dietary needs and accessibility needs ahead of time so the host can pick a suitable spot.
- Be present. Put your phone down. You came to meet people, not refresh feeds.
Emergencies
- Contact local emergency services first — not Nomadify — if you're in immediate danger or someone needs urgent medical help.
- Know the local emergency number before you travel: e.g. 911 (US/Canada), 112 (EU), 999 (UK), 000 (Australia), 110 / 119 (Japan).
- Once you're safe, report what happened in-app or email com3run@gmail.com so we can take action on the account.
AI suggestions disclaimer
Activity ideas and suggestions generated by Nomadify's AI are guidance only. They aren't professional travel, safety, legal, or medical advice and can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Always verify a place is open, legal, and safe to visit before you commit. See our AI Disclosure.
Online safety
- Never send money or share financial info with anyone you met on Nomadify — no cash, no transfers, no gift cards, no crypto, no bank or card details. Ever.
- Protect personal information. Home address, ID numbers, verification codes, passwords, and real-time location stay private.
- Stay on the platform. Pressure to move conversations to another app immediately is a classic scam signal.
- Beware long-distance and overseas relationship scams — intense affection within days, sob stories that end in money requests, and partners who can never video-call are red flags.
- Report suspicious behaviour in-app so we can investigate and protect other travelers.
LGBTQ+ travel safety
Laws and cultural attitudes around sexual orientation and gender identity vary dramatically between countries — and sometimes between regions inside the same country. In some places, being openly LGBTQ+ carries real legal or physical risk. Before travelling or meeting someone, take a few minutes to research the local context and decide how much you're comfortable sharing publicly. A good starting point is ILGA World (ilga.org), which tracks LGBTQ+ rights and legislation worldwide.
Support resources
If you or someone you've met needs help, these organisations are good starting points. They're independent of Nomadify.
